Christmas Diptych, A

An a cappella setting of the well-known passage from the Gospel of Luke (King James Version) in which angels appear to shepherds to tell them the news of Jesus' birth.  Cast in two parts, the first opens with a soprano solo, which leads to an Andante sung by the full choir.  The second is a jubilant declaration, in eight parts: "For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.  Glory to God in the highest, and on earth, peace, good will toward men."  Commissioned by the Sonoma County Chamber Singers.  SATB divisi, soprano solo (or semi-choir).  8.5"x11".  Duration approx. 5'.
