Exhortation, An

Commissioned by the Gettysburg Children's Choir in honor of the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address, An Exhortation takes as its text a simple and direct poem by Stephanie Gregoire, "Conceived in Liberty." Gregoire was inspired by a quote from Abraham Lincoln: "Character is like a tree and reputation is like a shadow.  The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing."  SAB and piano.  8.5"x11".  Duration approx. 3'.
